The divine drink, which builds up resistance and fights fatigue. A cup of this precious drink (cocoa) permits a man to walk for a whole day
without food.

Are you looking for a delicious recipe for homemade hot chocolate or hot chocolate mix
recipe?

Here are two of my favorites: a recipe for homemade hot chocolate and a hot chocolate mix
recipe. I would often make the first recipe as a dessert because it is so rich and delicious.
The hot chocolate dry recipe is one of my favorite homemade Christmas gifts to give away:
simply put the hot chocolate mix in a jar with a ribbon and instructions.

This recipe for homemade hot chocolate resembles the European drinking chocolate. It is
easy to add flavors - just experiment and be adventurous.

Homemade Hot Chocolate

Start with:
4 cups whole milk
3 ounces of chocolate chips or chocolate wafers (dark)
1 cup whipping cream, whipped

In a heavy sauce pan, heat the milk until hot but do not boil. Stir in the chocolate until
melted. Add more milk or chocolate to get the desired strength. Use a hand blender to froth
the chocolate and mils. You could also pour the mixture into a blender and blend until
smooth. Garnish with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cocoa powder, nutmeg or cinnamon.
(You may need to adjust the amount of milk to chocolate according to your taste.)

Variations:

Peppermint Hot Chocolate
: Crush 4 peppermints and stir into the hot milk along with the
chocolate.

Mexican Hot Chocolate: Add a few dashes of hot chili powder, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon and 1
teaspoon of instant coffee granules along with the Merckens chocolate wafers. Stir until
smooth. Strain into mugs. Top with whipped cream.

Hot Chocolate Mix Recipe
(hot chocolate dry recipe)

10 cups dry milk powder - use carnation. Cheaper brands do not mix well.
4 3/4 cups sifted confectioners sugar
1 3/4 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
1 3/4 cups powdered non-dairy creamer

Mix together milk powder, confectioner's sugar, cocoa powder, and creamer - combine
thoroughly. Store the hot chocolate mix in an airtight container. This makes approximately
45 servings. (You may need to adjust the amount of cocoa according to your taste.)

To make hot chocolate, measure 1/3 cup of the hot chocolate mix in a mug. Pour in 3/4 cup
of boiling water and stir until dissolved. Top with whipped cream.

To make a warming and welcomed Christmas gift, put the hot chocolate mix in a jar, filled
3/4 full, and top with marshmallows. Decorate the jar with a square of Christmas fabric and
attach a card with the directions and a ribbon.
